About our cofounders

Dimples the Whale™ was founded by Patricia Alvarado Núñez and Alan Catello Grazioso, an award-winning husband-and-wife media team. Together, they earned a Daytime Emmy® nomination for a PBS Kids episode on beach cleanups filmed in California and Mexico, and have produced nonfiction projects spanning Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and North America.

Patricia has led multiple national and regional series, earning five New England Emmys, two Webby Awards, an Imagen Award, and a Gracie Award. Her work has reached more than five million viewers worldwide through broadcast and digital platforms. Alan’s credits span global brands and nonprofits including Save the Children, Oxfam, Worldfish, BMW, Boston Red Sox, CBS, History Channel, and Travel Channel. He also created content for three beloved PBS Kids seriesZOOM, Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman, and Postcards from Buster—programs that connected with millions of young viewers.

Together, Patricia and Alan unite their passion for storytelling, children’s media, whales, seafood, and ocean advocacy to inspire families through Dimples the Whale™.

In their spare time during the warm months, Patricia and Alan can be found aboard their vintage 1965 Boston Whaler, Fritzie M. Rose, cruising the ocean waters off Massachusetts and Maine—fishing, photographing nature, collecting plastic debris and ghost gear, and watching whales, sharks, seals, sea turtles, mola molas (sunfish), jellyfish, and seabirds in the wild.
