WHAT’S IN A POUND
OF OCEAN TRASH?
We’ve seen it with our own eyes: the ocean isn’t just littered with plastic bottles. We’ve pulled out balloons, ghost gear, cans, shoes, Styrofoam (so much of it!), lunch boxes—even five-gallon buckets with used motor oil.
By supporting our lovingly created children’s products on Kickstarter, you’re helping us continue this work—removing ocean trash pound by pound, with our own hands and alongside trusted partners
1 lb ≈ 41 plastic water bottles
1 lb ≈ 44 BALLOONS
Why Removing Ocean Trash Matters
💙 For People
Reduces toxins and microplastics in our food and water
Keeps beaches safe and enjoyable
Protects jobs and coastal communities
🐋 For Ocean Creatures
Prevents entanglement and injury
Stops animals from mistaking plastic for food
Restores healthier habitats for marine life
🌍 For the Planet
The ocean produces over 50% of the world’s oxygen
It absorbs carbon, helping to fight climate change
A cleaner ocean today means a stronger planet tomorrow
Every pound removed makes a difference.
HOW IT WORKS
1 Purchase = OCEAN TRASH REMOVED
Every purchase with Dimples the Whale™ funds the removal of ocean-bound trash.
Together, we’re on a mission to clear 100,000 lbs by 2029—one pound at a time.✨
From purchase to cleanup—your impact is tracked every step of the way.
It All Started with a Whale.
In August 2023, Patricia and Alan encountered Pinball—a mother humpback whale entangled in fishing rope off Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Their quick action and call to the Center for Coastal Studies helped save her, and the moment was captured in a report by GBH News, which broke the story (and GBH’s reposting of Alan dramatic Youtube video immediately garnered 75K views).
That unforgettable day sparked Dimples the Whale™—a mission to inspire children and empower families to protect our ocean and it’s creatures from growing threats.
Since then, the rescue story has made waves—covered by The Boston Globe, Miami Herald, CBS News (Boston), Boston 25 News,WCVB, Cape Cod Times,Yahoo News, Environment America and more. But it all began with a small boat, an entangled whale, and a team effort with lots of big caring hearts.

“It was very emotional. We held hands, knowing it wasn’t just one whale—it was a mother and her calf. Two lives we helped save.”
“They [Patricia and Alan] called immediately once they realized something was wrong. And had they not done that … we wouldn’t have been able to [free and] do what we did for Pinball.”
“That summer day, we didn’t just help facilitate a whale and her calf being saved—the ocean cried out for help, and touched us deep in our core. From that moment, I’ve been compelled to answer its call.”
